Mount Chimboarazo is an extinct volcano (stratovolcano). It has a large summit ice cap and it also receives a large amount of rain.

How to Get There

Quito Route

You can take a flight to Quito and then take a bus to Riobamba. You can also take the Ambato route. From Ambato, take a bus to Guaranda.

Best Time to Climb

The months of June and July offer the best climbing conditions, but you can climb Mount Chimborazo anytime except during most of the winter season.

There are slopes of up to 60 degrees and you will spend around 6-9 climbing hours.
