The Atlantic Rainforest is the most important of the six Brazilian biomes and one of the hottest hotspots on Earth. Because of its exceptional scenic beauty, the outstanding biodiversity of its ecosystems and its historical and cultural significance the Preserve was designated an International Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1992 and inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1999.

Day 1: In the morning visit of the historical center, the japanese village Liberdade and Little Italy "Bela Vista". After Lunch visit of the howler monkey colony at Serra da Cantareira. At night diner at a typical barbecue restaurant (Churrascaria).
Three days are dedicated to the Itatiaia massif, Serra da Mantiqueira highest elevation. From the Itatiaia plateau there is the possibility to climb Pico das Agulhas
Day 2 - 4: Negras (2.787 m) or Prateleiras (2.548 m). Spectacular views on the Paraiba valley and the Serra da Mantiqueira. In the lower tropical part of the national park, visit of the Itaporani and Véu de Noiva waterfalls such as the small park museum. Hike to romantic Visconde de Mauá.
Day 5 - 8: Transfer to Serra da Bocaina. Ascent to "Alto da Bocaina" crossing Atlantic Forests and rivers with crystal clear water. At sundown fantastic view back to Serra da Mantiqueira and Paraiba Valley.
Hike through Bocaina's altitude fields characterized by it’s typical araucária forests until Vale do Veado. Possibility of bathing in the natural pools of Cachoeiras Santo Izidro and Das Posses such as Dos Veados with 200 m the most impressing waterfall of the Park. Descent along the ancient gold trail (trilha de ouro) down to the historic village of Mambucaba. Transfer to Ilha Grande.
Day 9 - 13: Five days are reserved to explore Ilha Grande's natural beauty. From the fishing village Abrão a two days walk brings us to Araçatíba in the extreme south of the island. Passing the most beautiful beaches Aventureiro and Parnaioca on the wild northern part of the island, we return to Abrão.
Day 14: Back to the mainland and transfer to São Paulo. From there connecting flights to GB or USA.
