Synopsis: Walking Wild : Goat Rocks Wilderness explores the Pacific Crest Trail as it winds its way through the remarkable region that lies north of Mount Adams and south of White Pass in Washington's central Cascades, near Mount Rainer. This journey of discovery takes viewers from secluded forests to flower-filled meadows, along alpine peaks, and across a perilous traverse of the highest portion of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington. The production combines interviews with walkers who travel the trail with wilderness images. This is a rugged land that combines the fiery geology of ages past with the fleeting beauty of the seasons. Its foundation is the remains of ancient volcanoes and volcanic vents that rose nearly three-million years ago. Today, mountain goats roam these high slopes. The ice and snow of the high peaks feed small streams where lupine, monkey-flowers, hare bells, and a multitude of other blooms quiver in the cool breeze.
