Our full-size models are built to take it. We started from scratch, re-evaluating the very nature of binocular optics and mechanics. And we believe the resulting models‹GR 8x32mm, GR 10x40mm, and GR 12x50mm ‹ are the most rugged binoculars in the world. They are constructed to withstand G-forces that dramatically exceed military specs for ruggedness. And they meet or exceed military specs for thermal extremes, corrosion-resistance in salt water environments, and resisting the effects of dust and sand.
The mechanical design is optimized by Finite Element Analysis, a process that uses state-of-the-art technology to determine the proper weight-to-strength ratio of specific parts. An equally extensive design effort produced an optimized optical system that has superior resolution and remarkable contrast.
