Arc'teryx: Naos 55 Backpack - Part of the new Advanced Composite Construction line from Arc'teryx, the Naos 55 backpack represents the culmination of a four year project to fundamentally change backpack design. The critics have spoken, clearly proclaiming that the Arc'teryx Naos 55 takes backpack design to a whole new level of elevated performance. Backpacker magazine tagged the Arc'teryx Naos 55 backpack with one of their highly esteemed 2006 Editor's Choice awards, while Outside magazine agreed, selecting the Naos 55 as a Gear of the Year award recipient. This pack does everything well. The welded pack bag, consisting of just two pieces of 420ACT VaporTight™ fabric is extremely durable. Compared to other packs in the same size range, the Arc'teryx Naos 55 backpack is significantly lighter, largely due to the advanced construction techniques. Making pack flys obsolete, the waterproof construction keeps your gear dry inside the airtight main compartment even if your next canyoneering trip forces you to float your pack through a narrow slot. The backpanel is beefy yet lightweight too, and connects to the supportive hipbelt via the Load Transfer Disc™ assembly. One component of the disc assembly is mounted on the hipbelt and mates to a similar plate on the backpanel, where the assembly rotates whenever your hips pivot. The advantage is dynamic pack movement that mimics every move you make, whether subtle swaying as you knock out a string of flat valley miles on your backcountry skis or the exaggerated stretching involved with hopping boulders along an off-trail backpacking traverse. Similar to winning the Super Bowl and the World Series in the same year, the Arc'teryx Naos 55 backpack earned both a 2006 Editor's Choice award from Backpacker magazine and a 2006 Gear of the Year award from Outside magazine. Just like Arc'teryx's past design accomplishments with climbing harnesses, backpacks, and apparel, this latest round of innovations is sure to revolutionize how backpacks are made.
