The Lake Stroll
The Lake Stroll is a 6-7 day adventure hike through four of the South Islands famous sheep stations.
We provide complete logistic support to groups of 4 to 60 hikers including guides, catering, bar, tents, airport transfers, and start-finish accommodation.
Most of our larger groups consist of charity expeditions from Europe and Corporate fundraisers from around the world.
In addition, small groups wishing to get away from the tourist mega-tracks, business team members looking for personal and group development, and family groups enjoy the opportunity to experience a Kiwi national icon, ‘the high country sheep station’.
You will meet the people of the South Island high country and learn about their trials, challenges and achievements. Experience the huge, glacier fed, braided rivers, mountains and grasslands as you hike through high passes and breathe clean, fresh mountain air like no other. Set and achieve your own challenges and objectives for your trip.
Hunting
The hunting season usually starts around mid March and finishes in late June. Most animals rut during this period and it is at this time that the best trophies are usually taken. The following is a list of animals available in the South Island.
• Himalayan Tahr. These animals originated in Nepal and are sought after trophies by hunters from Europe and the USA. New Zealand's South Island Tahr population is world renowned. Hunting these alpine animals provides some of the most challenging experiences available.
• Chamois. An alpine antelope, these graceful and beautiful trophies are found throughout the Southern Alps. The best guides are essential as these often elusive animals are difficult to source.
• Red Deer. We invite hunters into the wilds of Fiordland. The mountains and bush of this amazing region are unique to New Zealand. Our hunting is in true Kiwi style. Bivvies in the bush, living off the land, and doing the hard work to bag trophy stags in the rut. There is nothing to compare to the thrill of roaring at a full grown angry stag deep in the Fiordland bush, enticing him into battle to defend his harem from the intruder (you if you know what you're doing!) Mid April is the best time to go but we only take one group per year on this one so get in quick, there are only four places on each trip. Red deer can be hunted all year round but this is the ultimate!
• Fallow Deer. Fallow can be hunted all year round not too far from home. The rut is slightly later than the Reds in late April to early May and is the best time for trophy stags.
• Wallabies. These animals are found not too far from our home and provide challenging shooting for the best of shooters. They can be driven from cover under a shotgun or sniped from distances. Most often hunted after a gut wrenching loss by the All Blacks to the Australian Rugby team!
All our hunting is free range.
