Day 1 - The Hop 15km It is not necessary to spend the night beforehand in Denmark. You can start in Albany and take the morning TransWA coach to Denmark in time to start the tour. It's a 40 minute ride and costs around $7.
At 9.00 am there will be a briefing session at Blue Wren Travelers' Rest in Denmark. You will be given detailed track notes and interpretive information. Safety measures will be discussed, and a member of your group will be given the First Aid Kit and the CDMA mobile phone to use in case of emergencies.
Cross the Wilson Inlet and put down on the Nullaki Peninsula. This can be done either by the vehicle transport we provide, or by hiring a dinghy from Denmark Dingy Hire. This costs another $35 for 5 persons and is an optional extra. It adds about 8 km to the days walk but enhances the track experience crossing the waters of the Wilson Inlet. If its too rough, then this option is not available.
Start walking the track on the Nullaki Peninsula and stop off at the first Bibbulmun Track shelter for a well-earned lunch break. Then move on to reach Lowlands Beach for your first overnight stay at the tent camp near the Beach. Enjoy having a wonderfully prepared meal served to you by the tour host while you relax in the company of your fellow hikers. Your luggage, drinks etc will be delivered to the camp.
The accommodation is at a permanent tent site. There are adequate 2 man tents fitted with comfortable stretcher beds (with mattresses) and the sleeping bags and pillows we provide. There is an evening meal cooked on the barbeque served at the large camp table.
Day 2 – The Skip – 22km Sweeping Views on your Walking Holiday
The next morning we provide a continental breakfast with coffee and tea. You get to prepare your own packed lunch from all the bread, rolls and ingredients we lay out for you. It's a 22km hike to the Torbay shelter so you need to make an early start!
This day is spent walking through the West Cape Howe National Park. Appreciate why the scenic grandeur the park is registered as part of the National Estate. Witness Australia's biodiversity as you pass by the huge number of plant species.
In season, its common to see whales passing along this coast as they let off their telltale plumes of spray into the air.
Stop for a picnic lunch. You might even stumble across the odd kangaroo. When you arrive at the Torbay Bibbulmun Track shelter, your host will be waiting with all the equipment, luggage and food for the nights stay. This is a hikers shelter and is not easily accessible. Everything has to be carried in from the road some distance away. You will be provided with thick 4WD self inflating mats to sleep on. Small dome tents are provided and you have the option of sleeping in the tents or in the shelter. The evening meal is prepared by the host and can enjoy the meal at this superb location overlooking the Great Southern Ocean.
Day 3 – The Jump-10km Walking Tour in Western Australia
Catch the sunrise as it peaks its brow over the ocean and the cliffs at Albany. One of the greatest pleasures of the trip is to have breakfast while watching the sunrise.
Set off for the final day walking through a wonderful Sheoke forest towards Cosy Corner. Walk along Perkins Beach and up to the peninsula near Mutton-Bird Island.
Cross the mouth of the Torbay Inlet. The level varies greatly with season and recent rain levels. Usually, you will just get your feet wet at other times may have to wade across a deep flow of water.
Your courtesy transport bus will be waiting at Mutton Bird Car Park where lunch will be provided. From here you can be taken on to Albany or return to Denmark.
If you can arrange your own transport, you may optionally continue the walk to the Albany Windfarm, which is a further 12 km along the track. Using a mobile phone, it may be possible to arrange a taxi to arrange a pick up from the Windfarm Car Park.
