Mount Williamson
Mount Williamson is a massive mountain with challenging trails towards its summit. At a height of 4384 meters, it is the second highest mountain in California. It is situated one mile east of the main crest of the Sierra Nevada. If you are at Highway 395 in the Owens Valley, you can view Mount Williamson for 50 miles.
How to Get There
The nearest major airports are in Reno, Nevada and Los Angeles, California.
Take the Shepherd's Pass Trailhead. It involves an 11- mile hike to Shepherd Pass.
Best Time to Climb
Early summer offers good climbing conditions.
Check if the mountain is open for climbs at the Mt. Whitney Ranger District Office in Lone Pine. Mount Williamson is usullay open from December - July 15.

Climbers usually take the standard class 3 West Face Route. It begins at the southern part of the West Face. It can be a challenging job, especially the 11 - mile hike from Shepherd Pass Trailhead to Shepherd Pass. |
