Humphreys Peak
Humphreys Peak at 12,633 feet is the highest peak in Arizona and is located in Coconino County. It is one of the three San Francisco Peaks on the rim of an eroded volcano. The San Francisco Peaks are the remnants of a dormant volcano that exploded thousands of years ago.
Humphreys Peak was named after General Andrew A. Humphreys, U.S. Army chief of Engineers.
Humphreys is the easiest of the Western highpoints. The most popular route to Humphreys is via the Arizona Snow Bowl, a popular ski lodge located just south of the mountain.
How to Get There
From the junction of Business Interstate 40 and US 180, take US 180 7.4 miles North to the junction of North Snow Bowl Road. Make a right on North Snow Bowl Road for 6.5 miles until the Arizona Snow Bowl parking lot.
