Tuckamor Trips
Bill spent over 40 years travelling and working in Canada 's northern wilderness, and believes people of all ages and abilities can benefit from his knowledge and experience.
It is difficult to espouse the many benefits of a wilderness trip because they are of the mind, spirit, body and soul. They are often arrived at in many subtle ways without our knowing it - and they remain with us forever. Special private trips can be arranged for your family or group on your dates.
On a canoe trip a special feeling comes when, after fighting the waves for a long day with many hours of straining muscles to their utmost, you finally reach the hoped-for goal and see a shore that for hours has been a misty line in the horizon. It is almost miraculous to see its rocks and trees materialize with a promise of a shelter somewhere among them. After the swift labour of setting up a campsite, a hearty supper eaten and nothing more to do, there is the sense of wholeness and oneness, solitude and simplicity, harmony, beauty and satisfaction. During the day, you are part of the waves, judging them, coasting down the long slopes between, only to climb to the top of another and then do it over again, until you are completely drained of energy. Somehow the mind is washed clean, and when it is over the cleanness continues until you crawl into your bag for hours of dreamless sleep.
If something deep inside you tells you that you should, then you have no choice but to come along. The real question becomes, “Can I afford not to go?”
Join Bill on backcountry cabin-to-cabin ski trips in the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve, the Uapashke or Groulx Mountains, the Traversée de Charlevoix, the Chic-Choc Mountains in the Gaspé, or our special Ski-with-the-Cree trip.
Bill offers a canoe trip in the Richmond Gulf on the east side of Hudson's Bay with optional hikes to take in the magnicent tundra and taiga mountains and waterfalls, or an easier trip in the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve for families and special groups, or whitewater the Moisie, the Upper Rouge, the Coulonge or Dumoine rivers.
Bill will also take you hiking or backpacking in the Saguenay Park to see whales, the Long Range Trail in Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland to see moose and caribou, or the Charlevoix Mountains.
