Wulingyuan Scenic Area consists of three parts: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxiyu Nature Reserve and Tianzi Mountain Natural Reserve, covering over more than 26,000 hectares.

Home to more than 3,000 narrow sandstone pillars and peaks (over 1,000 rise at least 200 meters), Wulingyuan has been arguably praised as one of the most beautiful place in China. Often misted in low clou
d and scored by countless streams, sixty percent of the park still has its original vegetation. Among the 550-odd tree species (twice Europe's total) are rare dove trees, gingkoes, and dawn redwoods, these last identified by their stringy bark and feathery leaves – a now-popular ornamental tree but believed extinct until 1948. The wildlife list is impressive too, including civets, giant salamanders, monkeys and game birds.

It was included in the World Heritage sites in 1992.

What to do there:

1. A bit strenuous trekking is followed by a rewarding and gorgeous experience by taking the panoramic view from the top of Mount Tianzi and Yellow mini-train at Tianzishan nature reserve Stone Village (accessible by trail or cable car);

2. A 2 hours hike along the picturesque Golden Whip river;

3. 326-meter Heavenly Elevator, possible the highest one in the world;

4. Exploring the amazing Huanglong Cave featured with complicated formation of stalactite and stalagmite;

5. A cruise in photogenic Baofeng Lake;

6. Sightseeing mini-train travel to go through a 5km "natural art gallery" in a undisturbed valley.

Thetford Forest is the latest Camping and Caravanning Club Site to invest in a trio of revolutionary Camping Pods.

The Norfolk-based Site, who earlier this year picked up the 2009 MMM (Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly Magazine) Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year Award, is continuing to go from strength to strength with its advanced booking figure currently 10 per cent higher compare
d to this time last year.

The Site already boasts 150 pitches but franchisees Rob and Dawn Muggridge and Neil and Julie Purnell now have one Standard (sleeps four) and two Jumbo Camping Pods (sleeps five) available to both members and non-members, located in an idyllic setting around the fishing pond.

Neil Purnell said: "We are confident that the Pods will prove to be a huge success because of their build quality and overall stunning appearance."

"We believe we are the only Site in this part of the country with Pods so we are really excited by their arrival."

Camping Pods are an eco-friendly alternative to camping and are made from locally sourced timber and insulated with sheep's wool.

One night in a standard Pod at Thetford costs £37 whilst the Jumbo Pod is £45 per night. All Pods are non-electric for the summer of 2009.

Camping Pods have already proved to be a huge hit at Club Sites at Eskdale (Lake District), Bellingham (Northumberland) and the Isle of Skye.

To book a Pod, call Thetford Forest direct on 01953 498455.

NASHUA, NH — In its effort to get youth more involved in the outdoors, NEMO Equipment, Inc. has donated over $13,000 in backpacking and mountaineering tents to youth outdoor programs so far this year. Best known for their innovative AirSupported Technology® utilizing airbeams instead of traditional aluminum tent poles, NEMO is a young, award-winning company with philanthropic roots. The company has made it a top priority to support nonprofit organizations, like those that encourage youth participation in the outdoors.

"Today's youth are tomorrow's explorers and conservationists. It is important that we share our own experiences and help to create new ones with the youngest generations. Protecting our environment is crucial and it starts with educating kids on the significance of the outdoors and why it needs our protection. It's our responsibility," says Cam Brensinger, founder and president of NEMO Equipment, Inc.

"As a company, we chose to support organizations we felt a connection to. Conservation, access and wildlife protection were big, but of special interest was getting children outside. We’re aware of the reports indicating a declining number of youths participating in outdoor activities and feel as an outdoor gear manufacturer, we can help change that," said Brensinger.

Appalachian Mountain Club's Youth Opportunities Program (Boston & New York City - www.outdoors.org/education/yop/index.cfm) Explorer Post 58 (Portland, OR - www.post58.org) and Club Chameleon (Newmarket, NH - www.clubchameleon.org) are the recipients of this year's tent donations. A combination of 2 and 3 person tents, including some of NEMO's AirSupported™ tents were given to the organizations.

"The tents you donated to Club Chameleon, Newmarket Recreation's Outdoor Wilderness Program for teens, were recently put to the test on an advanced overnight hiking trip up Mount Sandwich in NH. The hike took place at night and the tent's lightweight material, easy set-up and mobility proved to be an invaluable asset on the trip. Thank you for allowing teens to experience nature the way it should be. We are looking forward to many more adventures with our NEMO tents." Anneliese Fisher, Club Chameleon Director

"The Appalachian Mountain Club's Youth Opportunities Program (YOP) is grateful to NEMO for its thoughtful 2009 donation of tents. The additional tents will help YOP provide support and training to youth agencies serving urban and at-risk youth. Having quality equipment that youth agencies can borrow allows YOP to make leading outdoor trips more affordable, enjoyable and possible. NEMO tents will be a great addition to our equipment room and will be used by YOP members this summer on trips and trainings. AMC appreciates NEMO's partnership and looks forward to collaborating with you in the future." Margaret McNamara, Appalachian Mountain Club Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

To be considered as a recipient for NEMO's 2010 donation program, please email your proposal to journey@nemoequipment.com.
