Hiking Volunteers Sought to Form Task Force

FRIDAY, 25 JULY 2008
Submitted By: Diane Vee Hormillada

The Transportation Department of Scottsdale, Arizona is inviting volunteers to form a special citizens' task force that will recommend policies and plans for the city's planned hiking trails.

Aside from establishing trail policies, the task force will manage the neighborhood trails and assess which trails should be prioritized in the Trails Master Plan. The group will also consider the guidelines in designing trails, sources of funds, and maintenance.

The City Council had approved Scottsdale's Trails Master Plan in 2004. The plan includes the development of 289 miles of trails throughout the city and on the exterior part of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Less than half have already been completed.
