Girl Injured in Hiking Accident

A seven-year old girl fell over 40 feet while on a hiking trip with her family at the Helen Hunt Falls, located in Cheyenne Canyon last July 24.

According to reports, the young girl lost her footing and slipped down 20 feet of the falls and then another 20 feet down.

In an interview with 11 News, Lt. Brian Keyes of the Colorado Springs Fire Department said that the girl was conscious, breathing, and talking when the rescue team arrived in the location of the accident, but she was in critical condition. The name of the victim was not released.
