Construction of Salt Trail Continues

The construction of Salt Trail, a hiking and biking trail, continues despite the protests of some residents, according to town officials.

Several local residents are against the construction of the said trail due to environmental concerns. Trail protesters said that the rail bed on which the trail will stand may be contaminated with harmful chemicals.

Meanwhile, the trail construction moves forward and if all goes well, the Salt Trail might very well be the second successful rail-to-trail project in Washington County.

Town officials hoped that the 8.91-mile trail which passes through Saltville to Glade Spring will help boost the local economy.
