MapBuzz Teams Up with Colorado Mountain Club

MONDAY, 25 FEBRUARY 2008

Denver, CO (PRWEB) - MapBuzz, Inc. (MapBuzz), the social mapping site, announced that it is providing online trail maps for the 7,000-member Colorado Mountain Club (CMC). CMC members now have access to 590 maps in the Colorado region for planning social excursions, trail maintenance, and geo-tagging points of interest.

"CMC hikers will be able to view trails online and share their hiking experiences with each other using interactive maps jointly developed by MapBuzz and CMC," said Charlie Savage, founder and president of MapBuzz. "Partnering with the CMC is a natural expansion of www.mapbuzz.com since our website already offers trail maps from several hiking guides. Hosting the 7,000 active members of the CMC enhances our vision of linking people and groups through maps and we welcome them to our online community."

Kristi Judd, executive director of the CMC, said, "Offering online maps of hiking trails and destinations will enhance our membership's knowledge and enjoyment of the great hiking opportunities in Colorado. During the active hiking season, March through October, the CMC offers more than 2,000 trips to our members, each led by an experienced leader." By searching online for hikes and reviewing trail profile information, members can easily match their desired outing with the appropriate trail based on its location and difficulty, as well as share current hiking conditions and surrounding points of interest.

The CMC, with headquarters in Golden, Colorado, is one of the oldest hiking organizations in the country and has a number of active chapters throughout Colorado.

MapBuzz offers a free online service that makes it easy for users to share information about their favorite places with friends, family, and like-minded communities. MapBuzz anticipates significant growth not only of www.mapbuzz.com, but of collaborative online social mapping as MapBuzz creates easier, more rewarding ways for users to create, share, and search geographical locales. MapBuzz currently offers a number of online communities throughout Colorado and in Washington, D.C.
