Injured Hiker Rescued
THURSDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2007
A hiker who was injured was spotted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter on Highway 1 approximately five miles north of the San Luis Obispo County line last Saturday, December 22.
The rescue worker onboard the helicopter called for assistance. Responding to the scene were the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade, the California Highway Patrol, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department, Cambria Ambulance and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
According to a rescue worker, the female hiker whose name is still unknown apparently fell and broke a leg. The rescue team later brought the hiker along with her companion to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton.
