Hiking - a Growing Activity in National Park
THURSDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2007
Hikers are descending on Cape Breton Highlands National Park, which is located in northern Cape Breton mainly to give the park’s trails a quick run through.
According to the results of the Cape Breton Highlands Park Trails Project, majority of the park visitors made use of at least one trail.
Park’s Heritage Presentation Coordinator Julia Thomas said that hiking is a growing activity among the public and the national park is the logical destination. Thomas also added that at the park, people can reach the top of a trail and are welcomed with breathtaking scenery and a picturesque view of the ocean.
The trails project was first launched in 2005. The said project aims to develop about 25 trails in the park. It is expected to last about four to five years.
