Grand Canyon Hiking Trail Closed Due to Rockslide

THURSDAY, 25 OCTOBER 2007

Tanner trail, a hiking trail unit in the Grand Canyon National Park, was closed down for repairs after a rockslide last Tuesday, according to the National Park Service.

The report also reveals that the slide occurred in the most exhausted area of the said trail. The 10-mile path, which is frequented by advanced hikers, suffered damages about 1,500 feet.

A Spokesperson of the National Forest Service, Maureen Oltrogge, said that the repairs would take about a month after funds have been obtained. Oltrogge also added that an emergency request for funding has already been filed.

Meanwhile, other trails of the park remain open.
