Mount Cook Offers Tame Trails for Weary Hikers
MONDAY, 26 MARCH 2007
Mount Cook National Park, which is home to the tallest mountain in New Zealand, has challenging trails sought by outdoor enthusiasts.
Mount Cook, moreover, has flat trails that go through a valley, along a glacier, and into a lake. A wooden boardwalk sometimes operates as a trail, allowing hikers to walk without getting their shoes and feet dirty in some places.
There is also a pair of swing bridges that cuts across Hooker River. A trail component even clings to a cliff. Powerful railings just make it less scary to trail users.
