San Dieguito River Park Receives $71,000
TUESDAY, 30 JANUARY 2007
The San Dieguito River Park will be receiving $71,000 from the San Diego County Water Authority for temporarily closing a section of the hiking trail located on the north shore of Lake Hodges.
The money received by the park will be used to construct a recreational path for pedestrian and equestrian below the dam near Del Dios Gorge. Both the existing and planned trails are part of the proposed Coast to Crest trail system for hiking, horseback riding, and bicycling.
Spanning 80 miles, the trail system will connect the beach at Del Mar with Vulcan Mountain located near Julian. About 30 miles of the 80-mile-trail system has already been finished.
