Day-Use Fee Will Be Charged at Medicine Bow Trail
FRIDAY, 27 OCTOBER 2006
A $5-dollar fee per vehicle would be required from Medicine Bow-Rail Trail users starting summer next year.
The fee would apply to existing and newly constructed trailheads namely Pelton Creek, Vienna, Woods Creek, Lincoln Gulch, Lake Owen, Albany, Tick, and Mountain Home. As stated from a Federal Register notice, the fees would be used for the operation and maintenance of the trail and its surrounding areas. The 23-mile trail which is still under construction, offers parking areas, picnic facilities, and public toilets for hikers and bikers alike.
However, Erik Molvar of the Biodiversity Conservation said that the access fees would be restrictive for people with lower incomes.
