Hudson Farm to Open for the Upcoming Charity Hike
TUESDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER 2006
On October 21, the Historic Hudson Farm will open its gate again for its second annual Fall Charity Hike. The farm which is formerly known as the Hudson Guild Farm is opened for hikers and makes donations for each person who hikes. The hike will be along Highland Trail, a 150 mile trail that run from the Hudson River to the Delaware River.
Last year the hike raised about $19,000 for the Byram School District, Lakeland Emergency Squad and township fire department. The New Jersey Initial Response Team is the new added charity for this year and a volunteer search and rescue organization will also benefit from the hike that will take place at the Hudson Farm in Hopatcong and Byram.
There were five hundred participants who hiked a 3.5 mile trail at the farm last year which includes an infant who was the youngest participants. The Hudson Farm is a 3,000 acre property off of Stanhope-Sparta Road.
