Barnes Getting Ready For The 43rd Hiking Spree

The 82-year-old Bill Barnes of Copley Township is getting ready for the 43rd annual Fall Hiking Spree that will run until November 30. Barnes who admitted that he always enjoy hiking is a veteran of all 42 Fall Hiking Sprees.

He completed his first spree in 1963 and has a wooden hiking staff with 42 metal shields affixed to it to prove his prowess on the trail.

Barnes led weekly hikes at Sumner in Ridgewood in Copley and he also takes neighborhood children on walks in the woods.
