Special Olympics at Sunlight on Feb. 24
MONDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2006
The Northwestern Colorado Special Olympics Skiing will make its way towards Sunlight Mountain on February 24 for its skiing and snowshoeing competition. The event is the western regional qualifiers for the 2006 Winter Games. Nearly 550 athletes join the event every year. Also, athletes will be competing in five disciplines: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, snowshoeing and snowboarding.
The Special Olympics Colorado's goal is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in different Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to give them the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and share the joy with their loved ones.
