Hello Everyone,
I am an american, living in a small ex-patriot town in the middle of Mexico called Ajijic. Ajijic is on the largest lake in Mexico, Lake Chapala. The elevation of the lake is 6000ft. There are amazing hiking trails that go up to 10000ft. It's a wonderful place to live and visit, but is not known for it's hiking trails only because the average age of the gringos here is about 65. The mexican population knows of the great trails and use them often. There is a huge national trail running race here once a year, that is truly incredible to watch. So if you are thinking of making a trek through Mexico, Ajijic is a great hiking destination.
