What do you love most about hiking? Why do you love hiking?

..... Yeah right. Minus aching of the knee.
But you know what, its good to see the aerial view of nature. You really feel like on top of the world.

Getting out away from the 'modern world', and knowing you are totally on your own, enjoying God's good Earth. It's a primal thing. Four times I've carried a small CD player along - and NEVER used it! I like Nature's songs better!
I don't miss traffic, TV, "News" reports, neighbor squabbles, WORK.....
Give me that ol' "Road Less Travelled", and I'm happy.
I just worked up a new pack on an old frame and am breaking in some new better boots - can't wait to try them out!

I dunno - I think there's something to that ache, and knowing how hard you worked to get it...
I'm sore right now from this weekend's hiking, but it hurts so good, because I know what it took to get that way!

true.. ironic enough, the pain is what makes it so damn good! ive been
hiking for years and i just have this different kind of "high" when i
feel pain, rather than not feeling a thing..

I think that you like all this pain because it adds to the feeling of achievement that a good hike brings you. Personally I hike because I love nature, I love pushing my body and seeing what I am capable of and I get absolutely high on the feeling of achievement at the end of long day's hike.
