Has anyone heard of or have any information on plastic water bottle causing health problems. I heard a rumor that the nalogen water bottle have been recalled for having cancer causing chemicals in them. I googled this topic and the first thing I found was on this topic.
I've used the nalogen bottles for a while now, I'm not a health nut, but I'd still like be aware. My MSR water filter fits on my bottles when I filter water. I'll miss them.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks - Little Rock

I read about the Nalgene bottles too, but have yet to see anything really definitive on it. I mostly use GI canteens, but do have a couple Nalgenes. They are still sold in the stores.

I found some info. on the internet but mainly the only negative thing was nalogene is harmfull when heated. I guess the heat breaks down the plastic chemicals and released the cancer causing what evers into what your eating or drinking.
I like my nalogen bottles, my MSR water filter even fits the spouts for direct filling. I think I'm going keep one bottle for that purpose, but I find something else for my main storage of water. I don't want to go through life living scared but I guess being carefull wouldn't hurt.
Hopefully you guys can come up with somemore info. so we all can be more informed. Happy trails - LR

After reading that site, my earlier statement is still in effect - I find no definitive answer to the question. It still requires more research. If we wish to be safe(er), we can try to limit exposure as they suggested - as with anything questionable. I have four aluminum water bottles, two different styles and sizes - they have a 'plastic' coating or lining. Wonder what the safety of these is?
