Winter Vs Summer Backpack Size?

I am going to be doing a thru-hike across Canada /the TCT (http://thecanadaexperience.tumblr.com/) I know that I’m going to have to have a different set of gear for summer and winter but I’m wondering if I will need two backpacks? I will not require and specialty gear for climbing and such, just the basics to get me through the winter: snow-shows and crampons etc. Will an 80 liter bag be enough for this? If not and I get a 90 or bigger, ive seen up to 110 will this be excessive and cumbersome in the summer?

My own experience with packs is that as with all containers, we tend to pack them full! This can get to be too much if we need to travel quickly. Some packs I have seen can be 'expanded' for greater capacity when needed, but cinched up to a smaller size for summer use. Some googling should bring them up.
