Formerly a working farm, New Ing Lodge lies on the once busy A6. Built in 1708 New Ing Farm was for a while also a coaching inn, observant visitors will notice the single window high up on each of the gable ends. These are unusual and it was from these windows that the servant girls would look out for the next coach and warn the landlord so that he could prepare to greet the new arrivals.
We are easily accessible to the eastern and northern Lakeland fells and the Eden Valley and Hawes Water. Nearby to is Ullswater, High Street, Askham Fell, as well as the less-visited Howgill fells and the west Pennines. It is a short 15 minute drive to Penrith, and 25 minutes to Kendal. Other areas of the National Park are accessible with a short drive also.
The Wainwright Coast to Coast walk passes directly past the Lodge. We are an excellent base for the night! The Cumbrian Way, the Westmoreland Way and the Lakeland Round are only a couple of hundred metres away.
There is so much to do at New Ing it is ideal for a family break. As a Head of Sport at several schools, the owner offers activities for teenagers and younger children, which may or may not be accompanied by parents.
