We pride ourselves on Quality, Durability,
and Ruggedness .Designed in California by Outdoor Lifestylists,
using the most up to date technology to blur the line with the
handcrafted approach. The devotion that goes into each Gramicci
garment is evident in the look and feel of our clothing. Anyone
who has worn one
of our
pieces knows this, but what you might not know is the artistry
that goes into the process. Although the subtleties of the craft
may sometimes go overlooked, without their unique qualities,
our garments would not achieve their distinct personalities.
Dynamic
Color Palette color is key to craftsmanship, for it is what
initially draws our eye to a specific piece of clothing.
At Gramicci we take color to heart. Having been at the dye
game for
a while, we have evolved our yarn-dye technique to as much
an art form. Depending on the process used, individual pieces can
emerge
tonal and muted, or festive and outrageous. We have taken traditional
color wisdom and played, swam, and then ran with it.
Another
reason Gramicci garments are so recognizable is our blend of
old and new clothing traits. Moreover, the garment
wash process
results in fabrics with an incredibly soft hand, a softness
that normally takes years of faithful wear to achieve. Because function
belies all of our garments, we pride ourselves on creating garments
that are both comfortable and long-lasting.
We believe that clothing should never restrict, but instead,
nurture and support. Originality dominates the atmosphere.
Hand
crafting is employed here, where, unlike many companies that
rely primarily on machines for mass production, we instill
a personal
dimension to our crafting process from the very first cut of
a fabric to the final thread on a hem. Thus, our garments pass
through
our many hands in their making.
All of our fabrics contain some degree of flexibility, like
your own skin. We design clothes to move with you, which is
reflected
in original panel designs. With nearly no binding whatsoever,
garments are designed to allow for at least 80% limb movement
before any
other part of the piece is bothered. Most garments only offer
20-50%.
All of our garments benefit form specialized craft, including
the craft of seaming. We employ double needle stitching cover
stitched
to lock fabric in place for the eternal life of the garment.
We spare no expense when it comes to needle time! Rather than
single
threading we utilize three to five thread over-lock protection.
Bar tacks, sewn into the stress points, add another element of
reinforcement.
Flat lock seams are implemented in our garments
whenever we need to ensure seams with the least amount of “profile” and
at the same time want to avoid discomfort due to pressure points.
Any extra fabric left after the cut is stitched to the opposite
side, and acts as a flat lock to the seam.
Flat felled seams are the strongest seams in the world of sewing.
At Gramicci, we apply them in strategic areas because they
are the most tear and abrasion resistant seams known to man.
Overlock
seams (3 thread and 5 thread) are used to create maximum strength,
but with some stretch or “give” they also
protect fabric edge from degradation. We use 5-thread overlock
in the strategically most important areas, like side seams of
our pants. Using clean, long staple fibers enhances many aspects
of
our pieces, including: high weight-to-abrasion resistance ratio,
longer lasting color, softer hand, and ply resilience.
Many Gramicci garments are enjoyed for their added utility functions,
or bonuses, that carefully consider convenience without interrupting
style. Such features include unique pocket systems, original
vent systems, hidden buttons at collar points which fasten flaps
without
ever showing the buttons themselves, buttons at sleeves to fasten
the roll-up, and our integrated web-belt system - to name a few!
The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and energy
life force. So with this, we go back to nature for our core material
Cotton to build the platform from which we integrate classic
textiles
from around the globe. The careful craftsmanship and attention
to detail that follow complete the circle.
