Gasherbrum II

At a height of 8035 meters, Gasherbrum II is the world's thirteenth highest mountain and the third highest one in the Gasherbrum group of five peaks. It was first climbed by an Austrian expedition in 1956.

In general, it is one of the easiest 8000 meter peaks. However, climbing this mountain requires adequate climbing experience, physical and mental readiness, and a lot of preparations.

Best Time to Climb

The summer season (May until September) offers good climbing conditions.

 
Trails and Routes

General:

South West Ridge Route
- less steep compared to Broad Peak and relatively easier than the route in Gasherbrum 1

Base Icefall
- traverse the small icefall outside the basecamp to reach the base of the route

Camps

Basecamp - 5300m
Camp 1 - 5900m
Camp 2 - 6550m
Camp 3 - 6900 - 7100m
