The mountains and forests around Niseko can be enjoyed on a number of levels- driving, biking or hiking. Whatever you are into, you will be surprised at the variety of attractions and opportunities available.
Most of the mountains have set courses and maps/ information is readily available from local tourist information sources. Some courses are short while others can be broken into several days.
A must for hiking enthusiasts is a climb up the majestic Mount Youtei-the Fuki-like volcanic mountain that dominates the scenery. It takes from 4-5 hours to the peak for fit people.It has several trails. The unforgettable views from the peak shouldn't be missed.
Don't underestimate the weather, however, climbers have died even in Summer on Mt Youtei.
An easier option is to climb Mt Annupuri-home fo Niseko United ski resort- again there are many different trails to reach the peak. From Annupuri ski resort it is also possible to take the Gondola which leaves a short walk to the peak.It is also possible to put a mt bike on the Gondola and free wheel down.
Or for the more adventurous,soar down on thermals by launching off with a paraglider.

| Other Specifications | Niseko's mountains can be enjoyed year round. The winter season starts in mid December but for those who like to explore on foot back coountry options may be possible earlier depending on snow falls. The winter season officially is from mid December to the end of April, with lifts operating until the end of the national holidays locally known as "Golden Week" in the first week of May. |
